James "Tony" Green (Plainview)
Tony went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 22, 2023. A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Ron Ray and Rev. Neil Unwin officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview, Texas.
Tony was born to Jim and Kathy Green on July 29, 1952, in Floydada, Texas.
Tony attended Plainview and Floydada schools and later attended college in Taft, California.
In his professional pursuits, he was a Police officer in Petersburg, Texas; in 1991, he joined the Border Patrol for a time, then went to work at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
After meeting Lorah Butler, who was 14 years of age at the time – through her friendship with his sister Sharon – Tony waited for the love of his life and married Lorah on August 30, 1974, in Floydada, when she was 16. They would have celebrated their 49th anniversary in August of this year.
His interests included arrowhead hunting, metal detecting, and working on and riding his motorcycle. Because of this specific interest, he obtained a graduation certificate from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2000. His skills also included welding, electronics, plumbing, and auto mechanics – he was a jack of all trades.
In Tony’s pursuits, his greatest love and focus were his wife and family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorah Green, his children, Mark Green from Plainview, Robert “Bobby” Green and wife Crislyn from Fort Stockton, Staci Green from Plainview, 2 grandsons, Wyatt Links and Kaden Green both from Plainview, his sisters, Christine Jarrett from Shallowater, Sharon Green Cantrell from Lubbock, and Sara Wilson from Denton, his brother, David Green and wife Lisa from Lubbock.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Kathy Green
