Ester Ramos (Floydada)

Ester Eva Duran Ramos, age 67, of Floydada, finished her battle with cancer and left us peacefully in her home to be with our Gracious Lord in heaven on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2023, at the New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada, with Ronnie Fowler and Armando Morales officiating. Interment will follow at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada.

Ester Eva Duran Ramos was born September 2, 1955, in Lockney, Texas. Her parents, Thomas Duran and Porfina Casillas Duran, married in Martindale, Texas. Thomas was a farmer, and Porfina was a homemaker. They moved to Floydada, Texas, for work and started a family.  Ester graduated from Floydada High School in 1973. She worked for Missouri Beef, later known as Cargill Meat Solutions, in Plainview, Texas, for 40 years.  She began her career at Cargill on September 6, 1973. She had just turned 18 years old days prior. When she started, the meat plant had only been in operation for a few months. She retired in January, two months before the plant closed in March 2013. She was a Quality Control Manager and was a dedicated, hard worker. Her greatest joy in life was serving the Lord and preaching His word. She evangelized, led church services, and sang for the Lord for 37 years. Ester began preaching in 2016.  She pastored her church, God’s Blessings Fellowship, with her husband, David Ramos, in Floydada, Texas. Her hobbies included walking, singing,  gardening, preaching, directing her church, and working in her spare time at New Salem Primitive Baptist for nine years.  Ester enjoyed holidays with her husband, children, grandchildren, sister, and brother-in-law. She enjoyed spending time at her church with her family. She married David Ramos on May 13, 1990, in Floydada, Texas, at the First Assembly of God. She had five children. Thomas Garza, Laura Garza, Jeremiah Ramos, Sara Rosales, and David Ramos Jr.

Ester is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Duran and Porfina Casillas Duran; three brothers, Guadalupe Duran, Francisco Duran, and Chele Duran; and two sisters, Juanita Duran Becerra and Mary Duran.

Ester Eva Duran Ramos is survived by her husband, David Ramos. Her children, Thomas and Anqua Garza, Laura and Lionel Garza Sr., Jeremiah Ramos, David Ramos Jr., and Brenda Maldonado, all of Floydada, Texas, and Sara and Domingo Rosales of Hale Center, Texas. She is survived by her only living sister Teresa Rodriguez and her husband, Tomas Beltran, of Lockney, Texas. Her grandchildren Siobhon Garza, Nathanael Garza, Caleb Garza, Eduardo Lopez, Natalie Garza, Sadie Rosales and Bethel Rosales. Her many fur grandbabies Shadow, Cane (Baby), Larry, Rosie, Jax, Nala, Shelby, and Titan also survived her.
