FLOYDADA, TX – Floyd County Commissioners will have a busy month in July, with the first of two meetings beginning this morning at 8:00 am.

Two big items on the agenda include the discussion and possible action on renewing the Garza County Inmate Housing Agreement. The agreement has existed since the county vacated the old Sheriff’s Office (SO) on the courthouse square (southeast) that housed the jail. Though the SO now has the old AgriLife Extension building on the corner of Wall Street and California Street, the decision was not to rebuild a jail but rather transport prisoners to the facility in Post.

Also, Commissioners will get their first crack at building a proposed 2024 Fiscal Year budget during a workshop. Once drawn out, the Court can approve the spending plan at their next meeting on July 28, 2023.
