FLOYDADA, TX – J.R. Compton is the recently hired Athletic Director for Floydada Collegiate High School and has his sights aimed at the top of the district.
Compton said, “We want to be successful across the board. It doesn’t matter if it’s academically or athletically, we want to own the district.”
As the official first-year AD, Compton says that it has been a learning experience but that he is excited to see what the future has in store for the Whirlwinds.
“The biggest thing is culture; everybody wants the culture to change, and it has in the past few years in Floydada. We’ve made a lot of strides, but now we want to cross into all sports on both the girls and boys sides.” We want to get everybody believing in one thing.”
Coach Compton will be entering his third season as head coach of the Whirlwinds football team.
