U.S. Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) spoke at a Townhall meeting in Lockney on June 27, 2023 (Remington Ricketts, FCR Record)
LOCKNEY, TX – “We’ve allowed Washington to do too much governing,” were U.S. Representative Jodey Arrington’s (TX-19) words on Tuesday.
Speaking at a town-hall meeting at Lockney High School, the Plainview native explained, “One of the central frustrations and problems with the country is we have way too much concentration of power in Washington, DC.”
With roughly two dozen constituents in the room, Arrington identified his top three threats to the Republic.
Border security, or the lack thereof at the Southern border (with Mexico), ranked first on his list, followed by China and the Federal debt.
Arrington is serving as the Chairman of the House Budget Committee, an impressive climb to leadership for someone with only six years of experience in the lower chamber.
His concerns with China are linked to both the border issue and the national debt, as some illegal drug seizures at the border originated in China. Add the fact that the U.S. spends $1.5 trillion more than it brings in, and China owns the majority of that; it could put a communist country in control of the country’s finances.
After the town hall meeting, the Congressman toured W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital before heading to a similar event in Crosby County.
