Floydada Firefighters Respond to Seven Calls During May

FLOYDADA, TX – Volunteer firefighters were called out seven times during May (2023), with two calls to help spot severe weather.

With the threat of tornadic activity on May 22nd and May 23rd, crews were posted across the county, ready to notify residents.

During one of those days (05/22/23), crews responded to a possible windmill fire but found nothing unusual.

The remaining four calls included a controlled burn north of the Sale Barn on FM 207 (05/05/23), a pickup fire at County Road 231 and FM1958 (05/08/23), a small grass fire near the Unity Center (05/10/23), and a small building fire north of US62/70 on FM28 (05/27/23).
