FLOYDADA, TX – April was a busy month for members of the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department, beginning with two grass fires (04/04/23) caused by a downed power line.
The winds that brought down a line on April 4th also brought down a line on the 8th, causing yet another grass fire southwest of the city limits.
Lightning was the culprit for another grass fire on the 9th, northeast of Floydada, that rain extinguished before trucks arrived.
The monthly call log shows two runs for gas leaks in alleys, one at 514 E. California (04/12/23) and another at 812 W. Grover (04/27/23).

Rain extinguished before arrival. 5. 04/12/2023 7:47 AM 514 E. California Gas leak in an alley. 6. 04/19/2023 5:54 PM 411 Milwaukee, Lockney. Mutual aid assisted Lockney with an apartment fire. 7. 04/25/2023 8:30 PM South-eastern Floyd County Cloud watch 8. 04/25/2023 10:03 PM FM1958 in the county. Possible garage Fire in the county. No fire was found. 9. 04/27/2023 10:40 PM 812 W. Grover Gas leak in the alley.
