MUNCY, TX – Saturday night’s Floyd County Friends Benefit Gala attendees were definitely “Feeling the Feeling”.
The 27th Annual event hosted by the Floyd County Friends saw 600 in attendance at the Unity Center.
The crowd danced to the music of the legendary Bellamy Brothers, who sang their big hit from 1986 along with other number-one hits like “If I Said You Have a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me”, “Dancin’ Cowboys”, and “When I’m Away from You”.
According to Segayle Foster, an event organizer for the Gala, this year’s event grossed $164,000 and will provide $79,000 in net profit back to the Unity Center. She explained that this will also go down as the second-biggest gala in history – in terms of net income.
The Unity Center was a dream of Floyd County families 30 years ago to have someplace between Lockney and Floydada where the communities could gather for a stock show, county fair, and numerous other occasions. The funds from the Gala are used to operate the facility, which is done at no cost to taxpayers and is approximately $50,000 per year.
Floyd County resident Dara Ware was the big $10,000 cash prize winner for the evening.
It really is a community-wide event with FCF Board Members working throughout the evening and table servers from the Floyd County 4H chapter.
