Well, it finally happened; after a long stretch of time when it seemed everything was going my way, now it’s full of challenges.

It should come as no surprise because the Old Testament shows us what God’s chosen people did over time and what we do in our lifetime.

When life is good, we fall into the trap of thinking we’re living right and being rewarded for doing so, but it’s in times of trouble that we look back to God for shelter from the storms of life.

Hosea is known as the prophet of love, which is ironic because the book outlines his life of marriage to a common whore, providing a clear picture of what true love really is and how God loves us through all of our mistakes.

“If you know what’s good for you, you’ll learn this inside and out. God’s paths get you where you want to go. Right-living people walk them easily; wrong-living people are always tripping and stumbling.” (Hosea 14:9 The Message)

The difficulty will find us, no matter how we live, because we reside in an imperfect world full of people living without the hope of God’s love.

Our challenge is to set our sights on God, walking with him and loving others as they stumble, knowing we all will trip and fall on our journey to eternity.
