ABERNATHY, TX – Lockney Junior High students will travel to the Abernathy Band Festival this week to compete in concert sight reading, solo, and ensemble.
Dr. Robert Rumbelow is the Director of Bands in Lockney and explains that the 7th Grade Band will perform today (Thursday) at 1 pm on the main auditorium stage, and the 6th Grade Beginner Band will perform at 1 pm Friday.
In addition, 8th-grade band members will also participate in the Solo competition today.
The annual event is organized by Matt Knight, Abernathy’s Director of Bands. He serves as the Region 16 Coordinator for the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) and the organization’s Immediate Past President.
