FLOYDADA, TX – What is loyalty worth? For employees of Floydada Collegiate Independent School District (FCISD), it’s more than $400,000.

On Thursday, teachers and staff were called to the A.B. Duncan Elementary school cafeteria for a safety training update only to learn that they were being treated to banana splits and Easter eggs with candy and a little extra surprise.

Superintendent Dr. Gilbert Trevino explained that due to added duties, they were asked to perform over the past four years (because of covid), the FCISD School Board had approved (back in December) a loyalty stipend for every employee in the district.

Full-time professional staff received $1,250 for the past four years they’ve been with FCISD (maximum of $5,000), while other staff and part-time employees received up to $625 for each year of service (maximum of $2,500), for a total of $420,000.
