FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds (4-12, 1-4) hosted the Sudan Hornets (7-7, 2-3) in a district game on Tuesday.
Sudan would strike first in the top of the third inning, going up 2-0.
Floydada would rally in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead 4-2.
Sudan would regain the lead in the fifth inning after scoring three runs.
In the bottom half of the fifth inning, the Whirlwinds would score three runs with two outs to regain the lead, 7-5.
The Hornets scored four in the top of the sixth, but the Whirlwinds responded with seven runs to extend their lead to 14-9.
In the top of the seventh, the Hornets scored four runs, but the Whirlwinds would shut down the comeback and secure their first district win of the season, beating the Hornets 14-13.
