
NEW DEAL, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds (3-10, 0-1) played the New Deal Lions (2-4, 1-0) on Tuesday in their first district game of the season.
The Lions were able to gain an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
The Whirlwinds would strike back in the third inning with five runs to go up 5-2.
After scoring two in the bottom of the third, the Lions would score three more in the fourth to regain the lead, 7-5.
Some costly errors in the fourth inning for the Whirlwinds would give the Lions seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead to 14-6.
New Deal would score the final two runs in the fifth inning to secure their first district win of the season over the Whirlwinds, 16-6.
