DIMMITT, TX – The #11 Floydada Whirlwinds (34-5, 14-1) battled the #3 Farwell Steers (28-4, 10-0) in the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday.
The Whirlwinds would start the game off with a run that would give them the lead, 26-15.
In the second quarter, the Winds were able to maintain a 10-point lead as they went into the half up 42-32.
The Steers would fight back in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 61-55.
In the fourth quarter, the Whirlwinds struggled offensively, and Farwell was able to take the lead, 65-63.
Floydada would tie late in the fourth quarter, and with less than 15 seconds left on the clock, the Whirlwinds had possession and were able to find senior Abran Castillo, who hit a deep three to win the game at the buzzer.
Floydada defeated Farwell 68-65 to advance to the Regional Semi-Finals on Friday against Reagan County.
