PLAINVIEW, TX – The #12 ranked Floydada Whirlwinds (32-5, 13-1) played against the #13 Olton Mustangs (24-6, 13-1) in a playoff seeding game on Friday.
The two teams were named co-district winners; however, with a 1-1 split in the regular season, the two teams played to determine the #1 and #2 seeds for the playoffs.
The game started with the Whirlwinds making a 25-11 run in the first quarter to jump ahead of the Mustangs.
Olton was able to make a run in the second quarter and cut the Whirlwind lead to just two points as the teams went into halftime tied at 35-33.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, and in the third quarter, the Whirlwinds extended their lead to 53-49.
Floydada was able to maintain their lead and would close the game out in the fourth quarter, 78-72, to secure the victory and the number one seed over the Olton Mustangs.
Floydada will now enter the playoffs as the number one seed and will face Bovina in their first-round matchup on Tuesday.
