SMYER, TX – The #14-ranked Floydada Whirlwinds (27-5, 9-1) traveled to play the Smyer Bobcats (5-22, 3-7) in district action on Thursday.
In the first quarter, the Whirlwinds’ defense held Smyer to just four points and were able to generate their offense, jumping out to an early lead of 21-4.
There was continued pressure from the Whirlwinds in the second quarter as their lead grew to 50-19.
Floydada outscored Smyer 48–27 in the second half and would close the game out against the Bobcats, 98–46.
Floydada was led in scoring by senior Abran Castillo, who had 27 points.
