FLOYDADA – Floydada Collegiate ISD has money to spend, and a little over a year to spend it. On Thursday school board members heard from financial officer Sonya Glass on the state of the district’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. As of December 15 the district has $1.34 million remaining in the grant funding, with the understanding it has to be spent by 2024 to avoid being returned to the state.
While no definite plans were put into place, previous funds have gone to give school supplies for the 2022-2023 academic year to each FCISD student, along with backpacks for secondary students using Macbooks.
Also during Thursday’s meeting the board approved the purchase of a new scoreboard and lights for baseball’s Watson Field, completing upgrades to the field that began with new turf.
The board set a February 16 meeting for their Texas Academic Performance Report. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.
