LOCKNEY, TX – The importance of having an emergency room available in Floyd County is underscored by an average of 6.4 visits per day in October (a total of 196).

Vince DeFranco, CEO of Mangold Memorial Hospital and Cogdell Clinic, told the Lockney General Hospital District Board of Directors last week that the numbers were below average for the month.

The clinic recorded 936 visits during the year’s tenth month, three acute admissions, ten patient days, and 15 observation patients.

DeFranco also explained that ten procedures were performed and two swing bed admissions totaling 16 outpatient days.

Physical therapy reported 324 visits during October, and despite total gross charges of $1.3 million, after adjustments (40.84 percent), the hospital suffered a net loss of more than $125,000.
