LUBBOCK, TX – Both Floyd County high schools are attempting to advance to the UIL state 2A Marching Band competition next month but will first have to advance out of the Area round, which will be held at Lowrey Field on Saturday.

For Lockney, band director Robert Rumbelow will have the Longhorn band ready to perform “Agent Zero” at 12:35 pm.

Franklin Piland, Floydada’s band director, will follow in the afternoon as the Whirlwind band performs “Alien Invasion” at 2:35 pm.

In all, 25 bands will be performing in hopes of becoming one of the five to advance to the state competition on November 8, 2022, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Of particular interest, one school that did not march during the Regional competition has been awarded the opportunity to perform on Saturday.

On the morning of the regional contest, the Seagraves band had a major accident en route to the competition, preventing them from marching. Judges recently traveled to Seagraves to watch their performance, and the Eagle band will perform at 10:00 am on Saturday as the 25th band in the competition.
