Lockney’s July Tax Revenues Climb 17% Over 2021

AUSTIN, TX – Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is sending cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose districts $1.04 billion in local sales tax allocations for September, 13.1 percent more than in September 2021.

These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses reporting monthly tax.

Lockney is experiencing double-digit growth as the $14,065.41 for July represents a 17.25 percent increase over July 2021 and an 8.1 percent increase year-to-date ($119,041.02).

Floydada receives $25,771.99, a year-over-year increase of 3.24 percent, and year to date has collected 7.6 percent more than during the first seven months of 2021 ($281,432.92).

Texas imposes a 6.25 percent state sales and use tax on all retail sales, leases, and rentals of most goods and taxable services. Local taxing jurisdictions (cities, counties, special purpose districts, and transit authorities) can also impose up to 2 percent sales and use tax for a maximum combined rate of 8.25 percent. At a local level, Floydada assesses a 1.75 percent rate while Lockney collects at a 1.5 percent rate.
