FLOYDADA, TX – A search is underway for a new cheerleader tasked with bringing new businesses and economic growth to the area.

Earlier this month, Justin Brown, the Executive Director of the Floydada Economic Development Corporation (EDC), resigned. Now, the Board of Directors is looking to find its sixth leader since its creation more than 15 years ago.

Formed as a Type-4B Economic Development Corporation, the municipal entity receives a small tax on sales in the city. It can use the revenues to pay for projects such as business infrastructure, manufacturing, corporate offices, call centers, research facilities, and affordable housing. In addition, the EDC can promote and develop new and expanded business enterprises that create or retain primary jobs.

One of the most visible success stories is the wind energy sector in Floyd County, developed in part due to the foresight of Dora Ross and Justin Jaworski, the first two leaders of the organization.

More information regarding the Floydada EDC is available online here.
