NASHVILLE, TN – Recent rainfall across Floyd County boosted farmers who still have a cotton crop and, for many, allowed them to shut off the irrigation wells at least for a few days.

Another byproduct of the showers was the surprise emergence of dryland cottonseed getting its first drink this season.

The fields now seeing young cotton stands have already been zeroed out by insurance and will not make cotton this season.

Tony St. James of All Ag, All Day (900AM KFLP) is a regular contributor for RFD-TV and shared the interesting story earlier this week with the cable news network’s Market Day program.

Also featured in the segment was Dan Smith, a producer from Lockney.
