LUBBOCK – Erin Trevino has been a force in the Lady Winds pitching circle the last two seasons of her illustrious softball career, and on Sunday the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal recognized her as the 2022 Player of the Year on the Lone Star Varsity’s Super Team.
Trevino was one of four Lady Winds from the 2022 Region 1-2A Semifinalist team honored by the LSV. The other Lady Winds included catcher Marissa Obregon and outfielder Carissa Fernandez both on the Second Team; and shortstop Clarissa Delafuente as Honorable Mention. Fernandez is the only returning Lady Wind as a junior next season, while the trio of Trevino, Obregon and Delafuente graduated in May.
Trevino exceeded 60-wins in the circle in her high school career that included five no-hitters and 22-shut outs. Trevino recorded 530-strikeouts in her career with a season high 246 as a senior that followed 222-K’s as a junior. Her last two seasons as a Lady Wind, Trevino had a 30-5 record as a senior and 25-2 as a junior.
The quartet of Lady Winds recognized on the LSV Super Team played significant rolls in Floydada putting together exciting back-to-back playoff runs in 2022 to the Region 1-2A Semifinals with a 32-5 record, and the 2021 squad that reached the Region 1-2A Quarterfinals with a 25-2 season mark. Both teams went through District 3-2A undefeated for consecutive campaigns.
Obregon produced a team season high 48 RBI with a team leading 64-hits. Fernandez led Floydada with 62-runs scored, received 29-walks, and slapped 22-doubles while being the second highest base stealer with 30. Delafuente was an excellent leadoff player in the explosive lineup a team high .642-on base percentage plus a leader with 34 stolen bases. She was second on the team with 21-doubles and scoring 61-runs.
