FLOYDADA – Charles Tyer Stadium will be the site of 7-on-7 football games for three consecutive Thursday evenings starting June 9. The teams involved will be the Floydada Whirlwinds, Lockney Longhorns, Ralls Jackrabbits and Crosbyton Chiefs.

“Each team will play two games a night of a 30-minute running clock. Normally 7-on-7 games in the
summer are two halves of 20-minutes each, but we are tweaking it some so each team can get in two
games a night,” explained Floydada coach J.R. Compton.

Games will start at 6:00 p.m. each Thursday. The playing dates are June 9, 16, and 23. An interesting aspect of these 7-on-7 games is that Floydada coach Compton and new Lockney
Jonathan Thiebaud will get some good reps for their new quarterbacks.

Sophomores Dyllan Thiebaud of Lockney and Ty Henderson of Floydada are leading candidates to
take the reins of their respective teams this season. Both are multi-sport athletes and got in excessive playing time as freshmen in their sports – Thiebaud in football and baseball, while Henderson excelled in football and basketball.

Ralls has been very competitive in recent years and expected to be in a rebuilding season. Ralls,
Lockney and Floydada were all playoff teams from 2021. Crosbyton will be a nice addition to diversify the weekly competition.
