Winds fall to Post in baseball play-in game

ABERNATHY – The Floydada Whirlwinds baseball season came to an end on Monday by falling to the Post Bold Gold Antelopes 12-8 in a playoff seeding contest. The victory gives Post the number 4 seed from District 3-2A.

The Antelopes utilized a pair of two run home runs by Zach Sawyer and Brody Molnosky respectively in the second and fourth innings. Post outhit Floydada 8-5 for the game. The Whirlwinds scored in six of the seven innings, but could not overcome the seven runs combined that Post scored in the second and fourth frames.

Donovan Roacha was Floydada’s most productive player offensively by going 2-4 at the plate with two RBI and scored a run.

The loss ends Floydada’s season with an 8-13-1 record. Post (7-14-1) will now play the 4-2A Champions New Home Leopards (23-2) later this week in the Bi-District playoffs.
