FLOYDADA – When you hear the name “Texas Rangers” your mind likely conjures up the baseball team, dusty cowboys on horseback, or maybe even Chuck Norris. And while all of those are correct interpretations of the legendary lawmen, there is more to the story.
The Rangers are celebrating a milestone coming up in January, as 2023 will mark the 200th anniversary of their founding by Stephen F. Austin. On Thursday evening Russell Molina, chairman of the Texas Rangers Bicentennial, gave a presentation to the Lighthouse Electric Cooperative annual meeting about ways the state will be celebrating those two centuries of service to Texas.
We spoke with Molina before his speech, and learned the Rangers celebration will be focusing on the Lubbock area July 19-23, 2023.
