CANYON – Floydada junior Izaiah Alvarado ran his best 400 meters of his career on Saturday
afternoon with a 51.46 in the Region 1-2A Track finals, but finished in seventh place.

“Izaiah ran a 52.19 in the prelims on Friday to qualify for the finals with the second fastest time. Then he ran even better in the finals, but the rest of field also improved. The kid with the fastest time in prelims finished like fourth in the finals. Izaiah was disappointed, but hey he ran his best in both races,” said FCHS Coach J.R. Compton.

Also on Saturday, Lockney’s Annalacia Hernandez and Haven Walker took fifth and eighth
places respectively in the girls shot put. On Friday, Walker finished one position out of getting on the medal stand with a fourth place effort.

Floyd County was well represented at the UIL Region 1-2A track and field meet at the WTAMU track complex. Floydada had four individuals and two relays in the boys, and three individuals plus a
relay in the girls side. Lockney sent five individual girls and one boy to the Region meet.
