FLOYDADA – The No. 3 rated Floydada Lady Winds clinched their second consecutive District 3-2A Championship in softball on Tuesday with a 19-3 win at Ralls. Coach Armando Morales has released the Bi-District playoff series with the Post Lady Antelopes starting on Thursday, April 28 at Roosevelt.
It will be a best-of-three series starting with a double-header on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. If a game three is necessary, it will be on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. All games will be played at the Lady Eagles Field at 1406 Lubbock County Road 3300 in Roosevelt. Tickets at the gate will be $2 for students and $4 for adults.
Post is the number 4 seed out district 4-2A following Colorado City, Forsan and Tahoka.
The Lady Winds (25-2-1, 11-0) conclude the regular season on Friday against the Ralls Lady Jackrabbits at Lady Winds Field. It will be Senior Night for six Floydada seniors – Jazmin Coronado, Clari Delafuente, Marissa Obregon, Kailee Sanchez, Erin Trevino and Celese Wickware. They will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony at 5:45 p.m. First pitch will be at 6:00.
On Tuesday, Floydada will host the Idalou Lady Wildcats in a playoff warmup game at Lady Winds Field. Idalou has won the 2-3A Championship. That game will begin at 6:00 p.m. This should be a premier matchup of two of the top small school softball pitchers across the South Plains in Erin Trevino (172-K’s) vs Belle Arguello (199-K’s).
KFLP 900 AM will have the broadcast of all of the Lady Winds softball games.
