LOCKNEY – A Lockney man is in jail after a string of break-ins to homes and abandoned houses in the city. Adrian Luna was arrested on Tuesday at the Allsup’s Convenience Store following a search that stemmed from a weekend incident.
According to a news release from Lockney Police Luna was found hiding behind a pool table inside a home in the 700 block of NE 7th Street late Saturday night. Luna repeatedly attempted to run away from the officer, who twice used a TASER and a can of pepper spray to try and stop him. Luna ultimately escaped.
According to Lockney Police Luna had been the subject of multiple criminal trespass complaints for the past several months, including starting a fire in an abandoned home.
Lockney Police say Adult Protective Services had been previously called in to assist Luna, who according to the police was offered housing, utilities, and food stamps. He declined their offer.
Luna is currently being held in the Childress County jail on an Evading Arrest/Detention charge. Lockney Police say additional charges are pending.
