LOCKNE – The Sundown Roughettes (9-8, 5-5) took a major step towards securing a softball playoff bid by taking two games from the Lockney Lady Horns (7-10, 3-7) by scores of 20-1 on Tuesday, and 21-5 on Friday. The wins gives Sundown a tie-breaker over Lockney in the battle for fourth place in district 3-2A.
Sundown had big innings in the fourth and sixth by scoring seven and eight runs respectively. Lockney was only trailing by one run, 6-5 after the third frame.
Allie McCormick led Sundown by going 3-5 at the plate with two RBI including a double. Annalicia Hernandez and and Aracely Cuellar paced Lockney with going 2-3. Hernandez hit a homerun and drove in a team high three RBI with her two hits.
Lockney will play their last regular season series this week against the Sudan Nettes (6-7, 3-7). Game 1 will be Tuesday at Sudan.
