Lady Winds alone in first after sweep of Sudan

SUDAN – The No. 3 rated Floydada Lady Winds have taken over sole possession of first place in the 3-2A softball race after defeating the Sudan Nettes 17-5 on Saturday. This followed a surprise win by the New Deal Lady Lions knocking off the Ralls Lady Jackrabbits 8-6 on Friday. Floydada is now 10-0 in league play, while Ralls is 9-1 going into their season finales this Tuesday and Saturday.

The Lady Winds had another fast start of taking a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Floydada out hit the Nettes 19-4 including 10-extra base hits. Marissa Obregon and Analise Perez led the Lady Winds both going 4-4 at the plate, followed by Carissa Fernandez finishing 3-3.

Clari Delafuente got the win the circle for her first pitching win of the season. Delafuente gave up four hits and two walks, while recording three strikeouts. Erin Trevino closed out the game with four K’s.

The Lady Winds (24-2-1) have now won 13-straight outings. They will conclude the regular season by playing at Ralls on Tuesday, and hosting the Lady Jackrabbits on Saturday at Lady Winds Field. Floydada is in search of their second straight 3-2A Championship in softball. KFLP 900 AM will have the radio broadcast of both Lady Winds games.
