FLOYDADA – Think back to your first easter egg hunt. You’re standing in a line with a crowd of friends at the edge of a field FILLED with dyed eggs, plastic eggs filled with candy, and other treats.

You’re released into the field and it’s a frenzy. It takes less than five minutes to clear everything away. Floydada’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the city’s Ministerial Alliance are working together with multiple volunteers to give kids that same memory this Saturday.

The city-wide hunt, a staple of Easter before COVID, returns this year at the Floydada Park between the pool and baseball diamonds. In addition to having plenty of candy for the kids, volunteers led by the Floydada Police Department will be serving hot dogs and handing out water for the entire family shortly after the egg hunts.

There will be a total of four egg hunts, including ones for babies through pre-schoolers, one for kids in kindergarten through 2nd grade, older kids up to 6th grade and one for special needs children. All will begin at 11:00 a.m.

If you would like to volunteer, or donate candy you can reach out to Justin Brown with the EDC at (806) 983-4405. Setup for Saturday’s event will begin at 10:00 a.m.
