HALE CENTER – It was a feel good week for the Lockney Longhorns taking down the Hale Center Owls 9-4 on Tuesday, and then make it a series sweep of Friday by a 10-3 score.
Austin Rodriguez and Nathan Cineceros were key players in the win on Friday. Rodriguez pitched a strong 5.2-innings of allowing two runs on six hits, and fired nine strikeouts. Xavier Jimenez and Martin Salas came on in relief to secure the win.
On offense, Nathan Cineceros went 3-4 at the plate that included a two run inside the park homerun. He also had a double and a single. Rodriguez slapped a pair of doubles to help his pitching performance. Pablo Morales provided a multi-hit day with two singles.
The two wins got Lockney back into the playoff race with three more two game series to go. The Longhorns will take on he Olton Mustangs (0-7) in this week’s two game set.
