LOCKNEY – Freshman Dyllan Thiebaud’s value has increased significantly as the season progresses and Tuesday he hurled a complete seven inning pitching performance in the Lockney Longhorns win over the Hale Center Owls 9-4 at Longhorn Field.
Over the past two weeks neither Pablo Morales or Josh Jimenez have made an appearance on the mound due to injuries. Morales, Jimenez and Thiebaud gave Lockney three high quality starting pitchers through the first month of the season. As of recent, Thiebaud and Austin Rodriguez have been the primary pitchers.
Thiebaud gave the Longhorns (9-5, 2-3) a gutsy complete game performance. Thiebaud struggled through the third and fourth innings as Hale Center scored a combined five runs on seven hits, but he settled down to throw three straight shutout innings to get the win.
Lockney’s offense was consistent in the first four innings by putting up a curved number on the scoreboard each frame. The Longhorns took advantage of eight errors committed by Hale Center’s defense in the contest.
Morales led Lockney with two hits including a triple. He crossed home plate on three occassions for the Horns. Hale Center’s trio of Hunter Thompson, Brayden Jenkins and Zed Guerra had two hits apiece. One of Thompson’s hits was a triple.
Lockney and Hale Center will meet in Game 2 of their weekly series this Saturday at Hale Center.
