LOCKNEY – The Floydada Lady Winds came out strong by sending 16-batters to the plate in the top of the first inning and thus pushed across eight runs to establish control before taking a 24-1 win on a beautiful Saturday at Lady Horns Field. The win gave Floydada (20-2-1, 6-0) a 2-0 sweep in the weekly series.
Floydada had 19-hits for the game with 11-different players getting at least one base hit. Junior Kaley Garza led the Lady Winds of going 3-3 at the plate; followed by Clari Delafuente, Erin Trevino, Dani Zavala and Celese Wickware all with a pair of hits each. For extra base hits – Zavala and Carissa Fernandez each had a triple; Celese Wickware hit two doubles for the second straight outing; while Analise Perez and Marissa Obregon slapped a double apiece.
Erin Trevino pitched the complete game by giving up two hits and three walks. She had eight strikeouts to raise her season total to 133-K’s.
Lockney’s offense was provided by Brinley LeFevre and Eddeny Chavira with one single each. Chavira scored one run.
