FLOYD COUNTY – Students and faculty from two Texas universities will soon be in Floyd and Motley Counties looking for people who have dealt with flooding.
Students of Dr. Erick Butler at West Texas A&M in Canyon will visit Floyd County to interview residents who have experienced flooding as part of a project for the Texas Water Development Board.
Dr. Butler sat down with the Record to discuss the project as part of this week’s On The Record.

The designated communities the students are targeting in Floyd County are South Plains, Dougherty, McCoy, Aiken, Barwise, Floydada and Lockney.
WT is partnering on the project with Dr. Jonathan Price and students from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. The students and professors will split the Motley County communities of Flomot, Northfield, Tee Pee City, Matador and Roaring Springs for research purposes.
