FLOYD COUNTY – As polls open for the 2022 Primaries across Texas, here are some things voters in Floyd County need to know.
Floyd County has two voting locations, with Lockney’s First United Methodist Church and the Floyd County Courthouse Annex both open between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
There is one county-wide race on the Republican side, with Elva Martinez and Lori Morales both vying for the County Treasurer seat.
There is one other race in Precincts 2 and 3 of the county, with Jonathan Sustaita and Darrell Rasco both running as Republicans for the Justice of the Peace position.
In addition to county races, there are Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Land Commissioner and Ag Commissioner races, as well as ten party propositions Republican leaders have asked voters’ input on.
There are no contested races locally on the Democratic ticket, but there are six statewide races to vote on.
As of Friday, 385 Floyd County voters took part in Early Voting, with 153 voting in the first week and 231 voting in the second week.
Floyd County Clerk Ginger Morgan tells the Record Floyd County numbers should be tallied by 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Record will work to post those as quickly as possible.
Most Texans are now required to show photo identification to vote. If unable to show ID, voters must now fill out a “Reasonable Impediment Declaration” form at the polling location and show another identifier like a utility bill, bank statement or voter registration card.
