POST – The Floydada Whirlwinds (1-1) only got to play one game in the Post Bold Gold Baseball Tournament at Norm Cash Field, but they made it count with a 6-1 over the Colorado City Wolves on Friday. The tournament was hampered by the cold weather that made an impact with cancellations on other outside games across the Panhandle and South Plains.

Colorado City took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Whirlwinds quickly answered with two runs in bottom half with a pair of runs for a 2-1 lead. Floydada then opened things up in the third by pushing across four more runs that led to their first win of the season.

Juan Gonzales was the only player to get an extra base hit with a double. Donovan Rocha had a good game pitching to pick up the win.

COLO. CITY – 0 1 0 0 – 1 2 1
FLOYDADA – 0 2 4 x – 6 4 0

NEXT: Tuesday, March 1 at Smyer Bobcats. First pitch 4pm
