LOCKNEY – The cleanup from a fatal accident that claimed the life of a Lockney man last Tuesday will continue into the upcoming week.

24-year-old Christian Bursiga of Lockney was killed when his pickup crashed into an 18-wheeler carrying a wind turbine motor. The crash started a small fire as well as causing damage to the road.

TxDOT crews began making repairs to the road on the evening of the accident, reopening one lane of the road early Wednesday morning. They had hoped to open the road fully by early Friday, but a lack of available materials has forced them to keep the outside lane of the highway blocked through the weekend.

TxDOT asks drivers to slow down and pay attention through road construction areas.
