Virginia was born on January 31, 1956, in Louise, Texas to Manuel Gonzales and Eloisa Vasquez Gonzales. Virginia married her best friend Juan Hernandez on June 9, 1990.

Virginia worked for many years at Lockney Elementary shaping the lives of children and giving her love to all, she retired in 2018 and took on her most precious and priceless role yet, full-time Grandma.

Virginia was always packed and ready for any adventure, whether it be a garage sale down the street or a road trip to the ocean. Virginia was always ready to place her bets and take her chances with family games of poker, Loteria, and phase 10. Anybody who challenged her was in for a laugh and a good time.

Virginia knew no strangers, her infectious laugh captured the room and left a long-lasting memory of what often helped people describe her. To her children, she was their queen. She not only cared for her children as a mother should, but she was also their greatest supporter in life and always reminded them that family is forever.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Juan Hernandez; Son, Juan Anthony Hernandez of Lubbock, Texas. Four daughters Gracie Cervantes and husband Fred of Lockney, Texas; Alma Luna and husband Willie of Lubbock, Texas; Becky Menchaca and husband Noe of Dallas, Texas; and Analia Hernandez and husband Daylen Gatica of Lubbock, Texas. Four brothers Johnny Gonzales and wife Corina of Lockney, Texas; Joe Gonzales and wife Mary of Mason, Texas; Gilbert Gonzales of Lockney, Texas; and Robert Gonzales of Lockney, Texas. One sister Linda Garcia and husband Steve of Lockney, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia will forever watch over the ones that called her grandma, her 12 grandchildren Andrew Luna, Mia Rodriguez, Josiah Rodriguez, Gabriella Cervantes, Jerimiah Chavira, Nickolas Cervantes, Zachariah Luna, Noe Menchaca, Elijah Luna, Arryanna Menchaca, Lilyanna Menchaca, and Adalyn Gatica.

Virginia is reunited in heaven with her parents, Manuel and Eloisa Gonzales, three brothers Freddie “Popo” Gonzales, Mike Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, and sister Sylvia Pena.

May you continuously honor Virginia by being the best version of yourself that you can be always remembering to laugh and love.
