Entries open for Lighthouse Electric speech contest

FLOYDADA – The best and brightest high school students from the region will be competing for two $1,500 scholarships and a trip to the nation’s capital later this month.

Lighthouse Electric Cooperative’s speech contest will take place on Saturday, February 26 at the cooperative’s headquarters in Floydada.

Students will give a 5-8 minute speech to a panel of judges, who will grade the criteria based on speaking ability, poise and appearance.

The topic for this year’s contest is “If I could change one thing about my school or community, what would it be and why?”

They must be students at one of the following school districts:
*Floydada
*Lockney
*Petersburg
*Valley
*Plainview
*Hale Center
*Silverton
*Memphis
*Crosbyton
*Ralls
*Hedley
*Motley County

Entry forms must be submitted by February 18.
