FLOYDADA — After about four years of serving her community in the role, Kortney DeBock is stepping down from the Floydada Chamber of Commerce manager position.

DeBock announced her departure in a Facebook post Sunday afternoon. She told the Record that she resigned to spend more time with her family and focus on new business ventures.

“For the past couple years I have been stretched more and more thin between business ventures, having (my son) Cooper, raising a toddler, having demanding jobs and trying to be a decent friend and wife. Something always seemed to get put to the wayside and a lot of times it was my sweet, patient family,” the Floydada native wrote in the post. “This was not a rash decision and it came with MANY tears.”

“In a good way, the job became a lot more complex,” DeBock told the Record. She said that many of the added responsibilities in her position stemmed from work that she’s really proud of.

“We’ve made so much progress since I came on as manager,” she said. “We were trying to keep tradition as well as keeping it fresh and new.”

“I hope (the Board of Directors) can continue to implement those new things and find (a new manager) to really do them justice,” she added.

“The Chamber board appreciates Kortney’s years of service to the Floydada Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture, as well as the community of Floydada,” board president Kalli Martin said in an email to the Record. “We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.”
