FLOYD COUNTY — Seven Texas counties have been designated by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency as Primary Natural Disaster Areas, including Floyd County.
According to a press release from Floyd County FSA, the disaster designation was triggered by excessive moisture occurring between Jan. 1 and July 31.
The designation allows FSA to extend credit to producers impacted by the disaster through emergency loans, which can be used to replace essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganize a farming operation or refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
The deadline to apply for the emergency loans is July 5, 2022.
Other counties included in the primary designation are Calhoun, Colorado, Delta, Falls, Hopkins and Victoria.
Briscoe, Crosby, Dickens, Hale, Lubbock, Motley and Swisher counties are also eligible as contiguous counties.
