Pam Ricketts has been approved as an adjunct professor for South Plains College! Ms. Ricketts will be teaching the Education and Training Pathway courses as dual credit in the 2022-2023 school year.
The expansion of the Education and Training pathway is an effort to reach out to students about teaching as a career and provide experience in teaching leading to an associate and bachelor’s degree. This pathway connects with our “Grow Your Own” program where students complete an associate degree via SPC and then complete a bachelor’s degree and teaching certification via Texas Tech University. GYO candidates intern at Floydada Collegiate ISD and they are preferred hires for future teaching positions.
It is a way to create a quality educator pipeline to fill vacancies and to keep talent here in Floyd County!
Mrs. Ricketts has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and English, a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. She has 16 years teaching experience and 8 years as a school counselor. She has taught the high school Education and Training courses for the past 3 years, and she has taught Spanish I, II, and III for 16 years! Ms. Ricketts has also been a Texas Association of Future Educator (TAFE) and Business Professionals of America (BPA) sponsor for numerous years!
We are excited to have Mrs. Ricketts teaching this pathway, and we look forward to sharing more about the teaching profession with our Floydada Collegiate ISD students.
